Sleepy August/31/2006    It would have been my grandfather's 90th birthday today if he'd been alive. Thought of him this morning and wanted him to have a high tech grave with a digital display, to which I could send a message. Crazy thought. Congratulations sister! August/30/2006 Congratulations Lillo, you'll soon be as old as I am (my sister's 24th birthday is today)! 
Feeling kind of bad today because of not doing what I had to do. Tomorrow I'm going to school with no portfolio to show (wanted to make it so perfect that I ended up making none, made Mr Zucchini instead). Going through the computer August/29/2006 Have been going through my computer and found a lot of old stuff, for example this (there's a lack of creativity at the moment):   
The builders have been here every day fixing our bathroom floor, tomorrow it'll be finished (I hope!). 
Though I'm not sad August/27/2006  Today it's raining. Yesterday it was raining. Tomorrow? I like it. Animals August/26/2006  Passing by the laundromat I saw this sweet dog. It's strange but sometimes dogs seem too smart, it was behaving like as if it was wondering what I was actually taking a picture of. So curious and cute. 
A lady needs her cat wherever she goes. Doris, my catneighbour, has been visiting us in our apartment a few times this week. Though I had to throw her out after a while, since she was destroying our couch. This morning she was sleeping in my knee when we were out in the garden for some tea. So sweet. I'm happy to have her, then I don't have to have my own cat. Material happiness August/24/2006  School project: The man who cried. The book is about a crying man who gets happy by getting a bicycle as a present; material world...  The postman drives to the crying man with a package, screaming Package for Staffan Bullersväng... Work is done, we're making pizza and evening is without any special plans. The workers have been here today and on Monday they'll be finished. And look here: My mr J has made his first website. Work with workers August/23/2006  Builders are here all days fixing our bathroom floor (it's going to be so beautiful!) and I'm drinking chai latte like a freak even though I don't have any toilet (don't worry - there is one in another house which I can use). Brown, pink, beige & IF August/22/2006  I had problems sitting still yesterday at the presentations at school, so I started doodling thinking about the song Yesterday, when I was mad by the Pet Shop Boys. At the end of the day we were looking in children's books and I saw a very sweet book by a talented swedish illustrator, Moa Hoff.

Rainy (Sun)day August/20/2006  Saw this white spider on a car today, never seen a white one before. Beautiful. Looks like it's going to eat my mr J.  We're checking out new art at Röda Sten and it starts to rain heavily so we have lunch at the restaurant.  Oil on the track. Look at my two latest illustrator bookmarks: One & Two Pet Shop Working Girl August/19/2006  Today's work. School project (a book about Swedish grammar). The sentence means Yesterday the owl gave the bird a pretty flower.  This is so not me, but fun to try something complete different. My first attempt was to make something cute, but - it always gets crazy somehow. I'm limited to the colours brown, orange and light blue (+grayscale). More of the same:    
I'm going to have the day off tomorrow... Wonderful. 25 years ago (today) Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe of the Pet Shop Boys met for the first time. Workaholic Weekend August/18/2006 Today is Alice's 3rd birthday and me and my mr J have been celebrating it by going for a long shopping walk. I found the most gorgeous black jacket in a second hand shop, mr J bought shiny white shoes and we had sushi and chatted with a fabulously hysterical lady at the Marimekko store. This day has been almost all play and no work (which the weekend isn't going to be).  Sweet characters in our pretended Berlin, we actually found a nice green shoe mirror there today. Look at that cute little fox!  The house is beautiful.  I wonder what this is, at least it looks great. I love buttons and stuff. And I have to mention: I'm pick of the week on IllustrationFriday, thank you so much. This week's topic is match, fun! Fika August/17/2006  The floors at Kafé Marmelad are fabulous, so is the interior and the different sorts of tea and cookies. One of my absolute favourite places.  My mr J's green eye (the other one is blue)  Hard to choose colour? I like the olive green. After seeing all the three first episodes of Star Wars the last few days, I'm seeing things like this everywhere. What a brainwash. I've started my Autumn now, spending the night indoors with a cup of hot soup and a thick hoodie, talking on the phone for an hour with my best friend (my mother), hugging my mr J, looking forward to tomorrow's work and hoping for a good night of sleep. Monday madness August/14/2006  Met this little character today when I was out walking in the rain.  Parts of my Royal Krona collection, they are so beautiful. You should see them lit in the dark, all over the apartment. We were this close to book a ticket to Berlin and the Pictoplasma Conference in October, but realized we can't. I miss Berlin. So much. But it's time to go somewhere else instead, Berlin may be my favourite city, but there are so many other places I'd love to visit; Barcelona, Prague, New York, Dublin... Never ending story. Sunday apron August/13/2006  Yesterday night we went to a minimal party at the Oro Gallery, mainly to pick up our Havec painting.  Look at this fabulous fabric. It's an apron my sister gave me as a present last year when she had been to Finland. No wonder my pizzas turn out so good wearing this when I make them. I had a nice view when having breakfast in my kitchen window this morning. The right window at the bottom is actually my old kitchen window.  School project. An illustration for a newspaper, a criminal series written by Torgny Lindgren.  Let me present Doris. We have been knowing each other for a couple of months now. She lives nextdoor and use to welcome me home by running towards me wanting to be cuddled with. Today she even started hugging me. So sweet. Think it's beautiful, such a contrast to the jugend/art nouveau style the school was built in.  When I came home I had a present waiting for me to open. From my mr J. So sweet. Tag ist gut August/09/2006  I don't travel by tram that often, but today I did and fortunately it was the old one with beautiful light bulbs, signs and colours.  Mr J, my sugarpig, had a great chocolate cake tonight at a local café where we sat outdoors waiting for the Autumn. I can feel the scent of it and today I found the most beautiful purple jacket, gotta buy it.  We went to the Oro Gallery tonight and met mr Ekta, who's art I really like. We had a nice chat. Working from home August/08/2006 Just finished making my school project, which I'm presenting tomorrow. Three illustrations for an article in a daily newspaper about time (not a real job though). It has been a great day with lunch out in the sun on the grass and work indoors on the couch. And it's still early afternoon, so I'm off for doing whatever I want now. Fabulous. Back in school August/07/2006 After a day at school it's time to bake pizza. Sushi for lunch was fabulous. I could eat sushi for lunch and pizza for dinner every day until I die. No problem. This is yesterday's pizza: 
School (illustration summer course) was very nice, we were talking about illustrations, presenting ourselves etc + we did also have time to make a quick exercise. A twenty-minute-illustration made from three random words (one verb, one substantive, one adjective), which made a lot of fun. My words were search for, dotted and hair-dryer and this is the result: 
I'm happy to have started school again and walking home I crossed the Götaplatsen where the Gothenburg Philharmonic were playing some really powerful live music in front of no audience. It felt so strange and was so beautiful, those violines and all. The European athletics championships are going on and there's so much happening in town. I'm home eating pizza and artichoke and drinking Koskenkorva Salmiakki instead. Saturday August/05/2006  Knitting on a cardigan for Bibbi-Lo and chatting for five hours with Johanna (mr J joining us half time) over salad, tea, blueberrywater etc on a local café made my day. Then of course I forgot to mention cleaning the whole apartment, eating great pizza, crocheting a pink/black/beige Camilla-rabbit, meeting mr J after a concert, walking, sitting on the couch drinking tea for an hour or so. Writing this I see I've had a busy day, though it has been feeling very relaxed. Tomorrow is my last day of summerholiday. Black & White Friday August/04/2006 Today I met Maria in the park and we went for a walk and sat at a nice café chatting for a couple of hours. On my way to meet her someone told me to smile.   Black & white lady walking home.  Started crocheting this little sweet one this morning and finished it right before mr J served me some fabulous dinner. Made the bear from a pattern by Camilla, she's making the sweetest little fellows. It's still early evening, it's hot and I have no plans. I love those Fridays. Knitting Day August/02/2006  It's thunder and rain. Beautiful day. Perfect for doing the laundry, knitting etc.  I love finnish Salmiakki, these candyboxes are wonderful. A Tuesday Report August/01/2006 Have been walking all day, good to be home and relax... Me and my mr J went to Strikk where I bought some yarn for future gifts to Alice & Bibbi-Lo. I could buy the whole shop... Then we went to Nakayoshi, the best sushiplace in town. Delicious:  After lunch we went to the art museum where they have a sweet little shop and we had a look at an exhibition by some people from our school. It was very nice. We also looked at Hasselblad Center's exhibition, where I found a girl called Lovisa Ringborg who also seems to like one of my favourite artists Loretta Lux. Beautiful pictures.  Walking home there were black clouds coming over us... No more walking - we ran like freaks. I love rain but my camera doesn't, nor did the magazines I had bought. Yesterday night mr J cut my hair and this night we're going to watch a film and take it very easy, I only have six days left of my summerholiday. |
