Bye July July/31/2006 Have started thinking of my future smosch.com and started bookmarking webpages I like for a future linklist. Here are some of them: http://www.katyart.com/ http://www.jeffsoto.com/ http://www.mattcipov.com/ http://www.mediumphobic.com/ http://www.rikcat.com/ http://www.rodney-white.com/ Today has been the first day of rain and lower temperatures for a very long time, wonderful. Woke up at 5.30 right before it started to rain, had some breakfast and then I fell asleep again listening to the rain. Had a scary dream about an old thin man changing shape into an old thin welldressed woman, wanting to kill me, being everywhere. And I was a nurse. Me - a nurse? My oh my. Slow Sunday July/30/2006 Sundays are great, I've been busy updating my flickr with some pictures from our trip, reading and eating potatoes, chorizo and tzatziki. Am really in a mood to watch a good thriller, but haven't found any of interest. I even make thrillers/horror movies in my dreams now, they are scary... Some links: Malota is a very talented person, I got so inspired by her work. The same about Julie West, check her out. Finally at home July/29/2006 After over two weeks on fabulous vacation in North Sweden, Pennybridge and also Finland (where I found the most delicious licorice chocolate called Tupla) we're finally at home. Have been celebrating with pizza and beer and reading a thick book. Today we also went down to Röda Sten to find Alice's and Lo's names are still on the wall: ![]() ![]() Stylish? ![]() In the night we went to a gallery opening. ![]() And bought our first painting together, made by Havec. Picnic July/18/2006 On a windy day in Luleå we met my relatives, among others my cousin who lives in Houston, Tx, for a picnic at Gülzauudden. Mr J, Alice and I went down to the beach to make some art and feel the water.
Korpis etc July/15/2006 My grandmother lives in Korpilombolo (Korpis) and 20 kilometres south of Korpis is Limingoån, the village in which my father grew up. There is the abandoned house of Adolf's which we went in to. I hadn't been there for about five years and Adolf hasn't been living there for about fifteen years. I wonder how long the house will survive those cold winters above the north polar circle. Am happy to have been there maybe for the last time. Some pictures from Adolf's house: ![]() ![]()
Walking in Luleå July/13/2006 Last night we came to Luleå where my family lives. Mr J & I took a walk around the city, he had never been there in the summer. ![]()
Stockholm July/12/2006 This morning we packed our bags and took the plane to Stockholm. Hadn't been there for a long time and it was a sweet day with italian icecream, tourists, sushi and a visit at Highlights. ![]() Ladies in the Old Town buying gelato. ![]() The biggest bag I've ever seen. ![]() Typical Stockholm buildings. It really is a beautiful city. Holiday Celebration July/10/2006 ![]() Love those old wooden houses surrounding me everyday. This particular one is very charming. Am going to fix myself a fabulous vacation together with my big and wonderful family up in the north. Will be a great end of my summer holiday, school starts again in four weeks. Starting to look forward to my illustration course and I hope for creative weeks. Coffee Rain July/09/2006 I met Maria at Mariaplan for some coffee, tea and icecream. We sat and talked for over three hours and it was so nice. ![]() ![]() I love tea balls, they are very high on my top list of most beautiful things. This poor example is a little too mashed, but I like it when they have the used and loved look. A rain storm came over us tonight and we put on our swimming suits and ran like crazy to the swimmingpool and back home again. I love those south swedish summer nights - they are so dark compared to the nights in north Sweden where the sun never goes down (of course those are fabulous too, but not as exotic for me). Yesterday I was browsing around and found Kathleen Lolley. Her art is something of the best I've seen for a very long time. Röda Sten July/08/2006 After lunch we took a walk down to Röda Sten to visit the market and relax. It was sweet and inspiring although there weren't as many tents with stuff as the other weekends, but there was a pink & yellow caravan - ooo! ![]() Destroying lots of old letters. ![]() At Röda Sten I found this sweet caravan. ![]() And this sweet car. ![]() And this sweet dog. ![]() And some art made by Plastikkid.
Going to spend the rest of my day on the floor with a cup of tea and my mr J. Friday I'm in love July/07/2006 I woke up tonight hearing rain, seeing rain, feeling rain. How I've been longing for that sound. It was more welcome than the cat yelling for something outside my window yesterday. Today mr J and I resqued a baby bird from grown-up birds trying to kill it, I don't really know if it was right, maybe we should have let them do what they wanted to do (I'd bet they came back for it when we left it). It was so sad. ![]() Very nice art. ![]() We had great lunch at Pasta e Panini. ![]() Nice sign, beautiful P ![]() On the way through the big park we staid and watched the seals lying in the sun. This black one is obviously the king of the swimming pool. HotHotHot July/06/2006 It's hothothot in our apartment: ![]() ![]() ![]() At the swimming pool in our neighbourhood were many kids today. This is a picture of a boy who, I guess, must never have heard of Robin Hood. He had two icecreams and the biggest dolphin in the whole swimmingpool. As he lied there yelling at the other kids for trying to reach his dolphin, he dropped one of the icecreams into the water. At Haloscan I found a comment-thing for my blog, great! Look: Evening walk July/04/2006 Tuesday night and we took a walk in the neighbourhood. Ended up with sausage by the big swimmingpool at Mary Square. I'm waiting for colder temperatures now, my shoulders are pretty burned by the sun although I didn't spend many hours outdoors. These days are lovely. ![]() ![]() All windows are opened for some fresh air in the night. ![]() Sausage time. Mr J is like a real hillbilly with his t-shirt, hair and the sausage. Drawn! The Illustration Blog is a great hangout now that I'm not feeling very creative. Found this blog yesterday and it is also good for the inspiration. Minivacation July/03/2006 Today we went to the sea for some swimming and sightseeing. A minivacation with pizza on the beach and icecream in small towns. ![]() We met this horse on a small beach in the middle of nowhere. Her name was Filippa and she was like a dog, very nice and sweet. She went through all our stuff and found some strawberries. I gave some to her and then she ate up the rest by herself. ![]() This little seagull baby was lost in the middle of Halmstad, the town of Roxette (yeah! ;) ). When we came back to the same place, a big seagull had found it and took care of it. ![]() There was no graffiti and no street art in Halmstad, very strange, but I found this thing which was pretty funny in a way. ![]() Nice colours though. ![]() Hello my friend. ![]() This is kind of surreal for a girl coming from northSweden. ![]() My mr J is running into the sunset. This is Tylösand, the real place to visit as a tourist. Very very nice sand and a long beach. Basement July/02/2006 After a day in the basement sorting stuff to give away to a secondhand-shop I am exhausted. Started the day with watching Night of the living dead and It couldn't happen here (Pet Shop Boys' movie) and then went down to the basement which is colder than the sauna apartment we're living in (hot days now). Found this little drawing I made a week before my 3rd birthday.
Walking picnic July/01/2006 A hot day with long walks, picnic and icecream. Summerholiday is fabulous. I have five weeks left of it. ![]() Hey Skullrabbit. Found at Röda Sten. ![]() Hey mr J, skulls & Sandra, also found at Röda Sten ![]() We had a picnic in the big park with mr J's family and this seagull really wanted our bread. ![]() This street doesn't look Swedish at all. Some Swedish illustrators: Karin Mårtensson Cassandra Rhodin - mixing Liselotte Watkins and Lovisa Burfitt into one. |
